Orazio Marinali and his school

Orazio Marinali (Bassano 1643-Vicenza 1720) is considered the greatest 17th century Veneto sculptor.
At Vicenza he founded a very fertile school; together with his brothers Francesco and Angelo he produced an enormous number of works for palazzi and churches of the city and province.
From the many churches there are the statues for the Basilica of Monte Berico, for the facade of the Church of Santa Maria in Foro or dei Servi, for the top of the facade of the Church of St Julian and for the altar, for the portal of the Oratory of St Christopher, for the altar of the Pietà in the Church of St Vincent and for the high altar of the Church of St Catherine. The angels above the balustrade of the Civran Parament in the Cathedral and the tabernacle of the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie are particularly interesting.
Among the monuments there are the statues for the Arco delle Scalette.
Marinali also made the statues of the garden of La Rotonda, the entrance door to the courtyard of the Palazzo Salvi and the stairway of Palazzo Repeta.
Some of these works are exhibited in the Museo Civico of Vicenza.
