International Library "La Vigna"

The International Library "La Vigna" was established in 1981 by the bibliophile Demetrio Zaccaria.
Specialised in agricultural studies, and everything connected with vines and wine in particular, it possesses about 35,000 volumes and more than 500 periodicals. In its collections there are some incunabola, more than 250 'cinquecentine', about 110 works of the 17th century, 450 of the 18th century and over 2,000 volumes from the 19th.
Currently the library acquires any kind of work on agriculture both from the scientific aspect, and economic, juridical, historical and anthropological.
Many works have been bought over these years on vines and wine production, the cultivation of olives and the production of olive oil, potato-growing, and the keeping and study of bees, in works published in French, Spanish, German and English.
Apart from numerous reference works, encyclopaedias and dictionaries, the Institute offers a library consultation service, also by phone, and access to SBN (the computerised National Library System).
