Casa Garzadori Bortolan
Giambattista Garzadori commissioned Andrea Palladio to design a new house in Contrà Piancoli, where he already possessed some buildings.
In 1567 he died, but, as we know from documentary records, an initial part of the building had already been finished by 1564.
It was his son Girolamo who completed the building, definitely before 1580. The facade has aspects similar to those of Vincenzo Pojana's palazzo, which was in the process of being built. Notice the ashlar-work on the bottom floor, and the giant Corinthian columns taking in the last floor as well. Between the two central windows, on the "piano nobile", there is a statue of Girolamo Garzadori. Above the statue, which represents him as an ancient hero, there was probably once the family coat-of-arms.
