Loggetta del Longhena
or Loggia Nuova
The Loggia del Longhena in the Giardini Salvi can be seen at the end of the Seriola canal coming from the west. It was built in 1649 for Gianluigi Valmarana, a descendent of Leonardo Valmarana, who the Palladian Loggetta of the same name was built for.
It is an interesting example of 17th century Vicenza architecture. The three arches with the view over the Giardini illustrate the rigour of Baldassare Longhena's architecture.
Inside are almost worn-away statues of the rural divinities Pan, Bacchus and Silenus to remind us of how peaceful the atmosphere of this place must have been once.
