Ospizio de Proti, Vajenti, Malacarne
The Ospizio de Proti, Vajenti, Malacarne, founded in 1412, owes its first name to the Vicenza nobleman Giampietro de' Proti (1345-1412), who left all his fortune for the founding of a Hospice for members of decayed aristocratic families. Vajenti and Malacarne were two successive benefactors. It was completely rebuilt according to the design of the architect Antonio Pizzocaro in 1568. The two facades, smooth and bare, are typical examples of Pizzocaro's severe taste. The square courtyard is surrounded by four vertically placed loggias.
After its recent restoration the building has become an Old People's Home.
