Palazzo Caldogno-Franceschini-da Schio
also known as Ca' d'Oro
The building suffered great damage, as did the nearby church of San Gaetano, during the air-raids of 1944. Rebuilt with great care, the Ca' d'Oro was so-called because it had once had capitals decorated with gold, like its famous Venetian counterpart.
The original building is late Gothic and dates back to the second half of the 15th century. Originally its facade was decorated with frescoes, now lost. The rich portal on the ground floor, executed between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th is by the hand of Lorenzo da Bologna.
In the entrance there is a small collection of archeological remains: vases, epigraphs, milestones, and a 6th century sarcophagus.
Address: corso Palladio, 147
