Palazzo Civena Trissino

now Casa di Cura Eretenia

The Palazzo Civena Trissino, begun in 1540 and completed in very few years, is a youthful work by Andrea Palladio. That was the very year that Giangiorgio Civena together with his brothers bought the building site for it.
The date is known thanks to the discovery of a commemoration medal that, following the tradition, was left in the foundations.
The facade has five lower arches, pilasters, and windows with capitals on the "piano nobile".
In 1801 the palazzo was enlarged for the first time with the addition of a wing in the courtyard, while between 1819 and 1820 two more were added to the sides of the facade.
The palace was hit and seriously damaged by bombs during the Second World War and renovated after the war.
This post-war renovation respected only the external structure; in the upper interiors original design and layout were ignored.
