Palazzo Leoni Montanari
Building work on Palazzo Leoni Montanari started in 1678 when Giovanni Leoni Montanari decided to have a residence built in the place where he already owned houses and a cotton spinning factory.
It is considered the prototype of Vicenza Baroque, with its sculptured and painted decorations inside, and above all with its Loggia of Hercules looking out over the courtyard. Perhaps designed by the Lombard architect Giuseppe Marchi and Carlo Borella, what is known for certain is that the French painter Ludovico Dorigny, who was well-known in Venetian and Veronese noble circles, took part in painting some interiors. The Paraccas, a family of stucco executors and sculptors, and the Trento painter Giuseppe Alberti, were also involved.
