Palazzo Thiene
once Bonin Longare
The palazzo of Francesco and Enea Thiene took a long time building, starting in about 1562 and continuing through into the 18th century.
The presence of Palladio is universally acknowledged as far as an initial stage of building is concerned, but it was completed by the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi. Thirteen years after the death of Palladio, in 1580, the building was still being referred to as "not completed". The facade looking on to the Corso consists of two floors and an attic floor. The first has eight Corinthian half-columns and a light ashlar. The second repeats the Corinthian half-columns and seven windows with capitals with alternating pediments. The "piano nobile" of the facade looking on to the courtyard has a loggia.
The side looking out on Piazza Castello has the Scamozzi stamp to it. The interiors still contain decorations and frescoes by Paolo Guidolini and Giacomo Chiesa.
