Palazzo Trissino

now the Town Hall

Vincenzo Scamozzi had this building commissioned by Galeazzo Trissino in 1592. The area was already occupied by buildings belonging to the Trissino family. Work dragged on for such a long time that in the mid-17th Antonio Pizzocaro was called in to complete it.
While showing the usual Scamozzian motifs, the palazzo also betrays signs of the hand of Pizzocaro in the upper part of the facade and especially in the internal courtyard, where the planned first-floor loggias were not built.
In 1763-64 the building was enlarged towards the Loggia Bernarda by Ottone Calderari.
The bombardment during the war destroyed the Dorigny stuccoes and frescoes.
On the floor below there is a section of original Roman paving.
