Palazzo Barbaran: the decorations

The decorations of the palazzo were carried out in several stages by famous artists like Battista Zelotti, who had already worked at Villa Emo at Fanzolo, Anselmo da Canera and Andrea Vicentino; the stuccoes were by the hand of Lorenzo Rubino, reponsible for those in the Loggia del Capitanio, together with his son Agostino.
The result was such a sumptuous palazzo that it could compete with the dwellings of the Thiene, Porto and Valmarana families, making its owner Montano Barbarano an important figure in the cultural élite of Vicenza.
