Piazza delle Erbe
Piazza delle Erbe stands on the south flank of Palladio's Basilica. It still has today the fruit and vegetable stalls of the centuries-old market. To the south it is shut off by Contrà Catena with its tapestry of palazzi. Among these it is worth noticing the Palazzo Vigna with its fine four-arched window, dating back to the end of the 16th century. On the eastern side the Torre del Girone dominates the piazza; opposite the 19th century Palazzo Marchetti. Under the arcades there is a chemist's of the same name, also known as "al Redentore", with furnishing of the early 20th century. |
