Ponte delle Barche

The origin of Ponte delle Barche dates back to the Roman period of which there still remain some traces in the foundations. It was enlarged and changed in the Middle Ages, when it became part of the city walls.
The name of the bridge, as that of the district of the same name, goes back to ancient times when there was a river port here.
