Torre dei Bissari
or Torre di Piazza
The Torre was originally a tower house belonging to the Bissari family. It was handed over to the commune in 1226 and became the Torre di Piazza. It is clearly visible also from the nearby hills, and is one of the symbols of the city.
In the 14th and 15th centuries it was first built as far as the belfry, then the finishing elements were added. In later years it was restored various times.
The ground plan is a square 7 metres by 7, and it is 82 metres high.
