Venetian Painting at Palazzo Leoni Montanari
At the "piano nobile" of the palazzo we can seen the collection of Venetian art of the 18th century.
The main core consists of the collection of 14 canvases by Pietro Longhi from the collection of Palazzo Corner Spinelli in Venezia.
The whole body of works, which can be attributed in equal measure to Pietro Falca (1702-1785), also known as Longhi, and his atelier and school, has an obvious thematic unity: the representation of scenes of everyday life of Venice of that time. The realism is almost photographic.
There are also two other paintings depicting shepherds from the artist's early Venetian period.
This glorious period of Venetian painting can also be seen in the scenes of Venice and the architectural caprices by Antonio Canaletto, (1697-1767), Michele Marieschi (1710-1743), Francesco Albotto (1721-1757), Luca Carlevarijs (1663-1730) and Francesco Guardi (1721-1793), the latter also known for his landscape genre paintings.
