Jubilee Churches

The nine Jubilee churches of the diocese of Vicenza are the churches in which "it will be possible to receive indulgences for the entire Holy Year" (according to the Bishop's letter), by meeting Our Lord in the sacraments and in prayer.

The churches are:

  • the Cathedral: celebrating the Jubilee here will express communion with the Diocesan church (visible sign of the mystery of the universal church), the recognition of the Bishop's ministry of unity, and the desire to "walk together" in the diocese;
  • the Sanctuaries of Monte Berico, Santa Maria della Pieve of Chiampo, Santa Maria Salute degli Infermi at Scaldaferro: going on a pilgrimage together to these Marian sanctuaries will help to recognise Mary as her who walks before us and sustains us on the path of faith;
  • the Chapel of the Istituto Canossiano of Schio, where the body of the Holy Sister Bakhita is preserved, and who is to be sanctified by the Pope: in this church it will be possible to celebrate specifically the "memory of the Martyrs", and live in the call to sanctity, of which those who gave their lives for the Reign of Heaven are true witnesses;
  • the "penance" Churches of San Daniele a Lonigo (Franciscans Minor), San Nicolò di Schio (Capuchins), San Pancrazio di Barbarano (Franciscans Minor), San Sebastiano di Bassano (Capuchins). These churches, scattered over the diocese, are mainly occasions for a personal jubilee through the celebration of the sacrament of penance (obviously also possible in the Cathedral and the Marian sanctuaries), and thus have a strong attraction for the conversion required by the period of the Jubilee.
