Sanctuary of the Madonna "Salus Infirmorum" of Scaldaferro

The Santuary of the Madonna della Salute degli Infermi (Vergine salus Infirmorum) had its origin in a little fresco on the wall of a stall which depicts the Virgin dressed as a heavenly nurse with an apron over her Queen's robes (1665). Popular devotion was such that the niche with its fresco changed rapidly into a little shrine and then (1715) into a little octagonal-shaped chapel built by the Venetian Venier family who owned property here.
Between 1910 and 1923, as a result of the increase in pilgrimages after the Miracle, the church was enlarged. In 1954 it became an autonomous parish, and since 1993 it has been entrusted to the Marian Fathers.
The famous Biblical Crib by Don Giulio dall'Olmo is worth a visit.
