Church of the Carmini
The Church of the Carmini dates back to the second half of the 14th century, and was dedicated to St James the Apostle. In the course of time it underwent numerous alterations and additions. The first big operation was in 1425 with the construction of three naves. In 1730 another operation brought it back to its single nave structure. And then between 1862 and 1867 it was re-structured, giving it its present appearance.
Inside there are paintings of considerable interest, such as "The Eternal Father and the Dead Christ" attributed to Paolo Veronese (1573), "The Martyrdom of St James" by Giulio Carponi (1670), "Christ borne to the Sepulchre" by Jacopo and Francesco Bassano (1580), and "Madonna and Child between Saints Sebastian and Anthony" by Benedetto Montagna.
