Church of St Chiara

The Franciscan Church of St Chiara is also dedicated to San Bernardino. It was built between 1451 and 1470 and was attributed to Lorenzo da Bologna. It represents the union of elements of medieval architecture with the new stylistic elements of Renaissance architecture.
The plan of the building is central and octagonal-shaped.
Inside there are precious paintings by Giulio Carpioni ("Miracle of the Mule", "St Catherine putting the Saracens to flight", and "San Ludovico, San Sebastiano, San Bernardino and San Giovanni da Capistrano") and by the Maganza school ("Sacred Family").
The Sacristy has paintings by Giovanni Cozza, a pupil of Carpioni.
The ex-convent of the Clarisse Riformate houses the parish oratory of St Catherine run by the Sisters of the Poor.
