Oratory of the Visitation or of the Proti

The Oratory, joined to the ancient hospice of the same name, was built in 1658 by the Vicenza-born Antonio Pizzocaro. It is made up of a very high rectangular central space in a simple and unadorned architectural style, as in the adjacent hospice. Outside, the building is crowned by a curved dentil cornice in the Scamozzi tradition.
Above the high altar hangs "The Visitation" by Francesco Maffei.
Another interesting painting is "The Giving of Alms to the Poor" by Gianbattista Maganza the Younger. The painting depicts Giampietro de' Proti, the founder of the hospice of the same name, kneeling together with St Elisabeth.
