From Piazza Castello to Piazza dei Signori

The itinerary in the part of the historic centre inside the old medieval walls begins from Porta Castello where we can see the imposing tower, the only remains of the castle built in medieval times. Going past the gate we arrive in Piazza Castello. Here, we can take in, starting from the right: Palazzo Porto-Breganze, Palazzo Piovini, a department store now, and Palazzo Thiene, later Bonin Longare.
We start along Corso Andrea Palladio lined by imposing palazzi; after a short stretch, on the left the Church of the Filippini. At the crossing with Corso Fogazzaro and Contrà Cesare Battisti, we turn left to leave the main route for a moment. At no.16 of Corso Fogazzaro we find Palazzo Valmarana Braga Rosa; going on we arrive in Piazza San Lorenzo and we visit the church. Coming back to Corso Fogazzaro, on the left there is Contrà Riale where we find the City Library Bertoliana (ex-convent of the Saints Philip and James). We arrive in Corso Palladio and we go over the crossing on to Contrà Cesare Battisti from where we reach the Cathedral and Piazza Duomo. From here we arrive at the Palazzo Vescovile, where we can visit the Loggia Zeno, and the Oratorio del Gonfalone. In the vicinity (heading south) we can go along Contrà Pasini, with the two Palazzi Arnaldi, and Contrà delle Grazie, where we find the Oratory of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
After this detour we return on to Corso Palladio; after a short walk, on the north side we see Palazzo Braschi Brunello and a little further on (south side) there is the facade of Palazzo Pojana, now Arrigoni Noventa. Immediately after, at the corner with Contrà Cavour, we can visit Palazzo Trissino (now main Municipal offices).
Almost opposite Contrà Cavour we descend along Stradella San Giacomo and visit the church of the same name. Coming back to Corso Palladio and turning right on to Contrà Cavour, we go down to Piazza dei Signori.
