Christian Vicenza: the origins
The itineraries of faith, art and memory through the sacred places of our city open with the Church of Santi Felice e Fortunato. The first Christian community left a great legacy of faith here. The martyrs' votive chapel, the mosaics, the austere structure itself, bring back the essential nature of an ancient place and allow us to experience again the spiritual nature of its origins.
We then proceed towards the Cathedral - the Church of Santa Maria Annunciata, the sacred building which is the symbol of the citizen community. The archeological site, particularly rich, is evidence of a long and complex history which began in Roman times and continued in the course of the centuries with the building of several churches, gradually enlarged and enriched with donations from the community. Today it has been splendidly restored and houses precious masterpieces among which the monumental series of paintings of the Civran Parament.
